Process Overview:
MediaDoor's production process requires only 1 to 2 hours of your time including shooting the photographs and recording the interview around which we will build the presentation. From start to finish a project will last between 4 and 6 weeks depending on our project work load and the promptness of client approvals at each stage.
Project Steps:
1) Send Collateral; Schedule Call: E-mail us any marketing collateral, bios, and or the pitch book that supports the presentation we are going to be capturing. Concurrently we schedule a call with the firm Advisor(s) or Principal(s) that we will be recording. From an unscripted 15 to 20 minute call that focuses on key elements of the product or process story, we can gather the material we need to create the core sound bites around which the presentation will be built.
Generally morning calls have a more energetic tone than calls completed late in the day. In scheduling the call, we only need a 30-minute block of time for each principal. When we are recording multiple principals it is best for the first call to be with the one that will be offering the most "macro" view of the product or firm's background and process orientation. For recording quality it is important that the principal be on a handset, NOT a cell phone, headset, or speaker phone.
2) Take Photos: Following are the requirements for the photographs we will need to complete your video project. The most CRITICAL thing to keep in mind is that the pictures be "conversational" rather than posed with the subject looking directly into the camera.Following are other key points:
- If you are not using a professional, please add additional light to the room by using one or two simple utility flood lights that are pointed AWAY from the subject. (You want reflected light that eliminates shadows, not direct light that creates them.)
- Have the subject talking as you take the 12-24 shots we need. Often it helps to ask them about something they feel passionate about so that are as animated as possible! (Politics, Sports, etc.)
- Shooting the subject seated across a desk or board room table is usually the best positioning for the shots.
- Pay attention to what is on the desk, table, and or the wall behind the subject. Remove anything that is extraneous or distracting.
- As long as the camera shoots with a density of at least 3 megapixels, do not be too concerned with framing as we will have plenty of flexibility when we crop the images.
- If the office is attractive also take 12 to 24 shots of anything that you think will be of interest. IE boardroom views, windows, trading floor, entry areas, etc.
- If you take pictures of people working, have them focused on their work not the camera. IE looking at the papers or monitor in front of them.
Once you have the pictures done, burn them to a CD and mail them to:

3) Review & Comment on Edited Interview(s): From the recording session(s) we will edit out the key sound bites around which we build the presentation. We then transcribe these sound bites for you, so that you can comment on whether you believe we have captured the most appropriate material. You should also run them through your compliance review process to flag any material that will need to be re-edited or re-recorded.
4) Review & Comment on Full Presentation Script: Around the approved sound bites, we will build the full presentation script. This step adds opening overview narration, bridging narration for segues between sound bites, as well as closing contact and disclaimer language. Once this full script is approved, we move on to the slide design process.
5) Review & Comment on Draft Presentation: From the approved and prioritized sound bites we craft a presentation draft merging the pitch book slides, audio, and digital pictures. You will be given the draft for internal comment and a second compliance review.
6) Final Draft Presentation: Once we re-edit the draft presentation to accommodate any final compliance or other internal comments, we provide you with a final draft presentation for a final review with an internal "beta" group to capture any final edits or comments.
7) Presentation Release: When final payment is received, we release the presentation to you. Standard form is a link on our servers and HTML code for imbedding on your website. Additionally with the release of the presentation, we also provide you the source movie file that you can burn to a DVD for compliance filing or field use on non-internet connected computers.
